Impellers in high temperature industrial fans
Alloys used to fabricate impellers for fan applications in elevated temperature environment are generally selected for their oxidation resistance, high temperature strength, thermal fatigue resistance and high creep strength properties. Usually, these components are used to increase the pressure or flow by drawing air or gas from one end, and then discharging it at the other.
For these reasons, alloys such as 253 MA®, Alloy 309, Alloy 310S, RA330®, RA602CA® and Alloy 601 are suitable.
- RA330® is selected for radial blades on open paddle wheel, forward curved blade and backward inclined blades especially when they require thermal fatigue resistance and oxidation resistance up to 1149°C.
- 253 MA® and 309 are a popular choice when creep strength is mostly required along with oxidation resistance up to 1093°C.
