Duplex Alloys
Duplex alloys are an increasingly popular product. Although the first cast was produced in 1930, advances in steel making techniques since the 1980s have greatly increased its use. These are particularly notable in respect of controlling its nitrogen content.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION WHEN CHOOSING AN ALLOY
To make sure you always choose the best alloy for any project, it’s important to know that Duplex Stainless Steels are not suitable for genuine cryogenic applications, are restricted to a maximum temperature of 300°C, and are more difficult to form and machine than austenitics.
ABOUT OUR 2205 DUPLEX ALLOY
This alloy is the most widely used ferritic or austenitic stainless steel grade. It is both extremely strong and highly-resistant – in particular to chloride stress cracking, pitting and crevice corrosion. It is also resistant to sulphide stress corrosion. You may find it called 2205 Stainless or Duplex 2205 and it is one of the most common stainless steels on the market due to its ability to perform in such a wide range of circumstances.
It is around 40-50% ferrite in an annealed condition, and its superb performance is reckoned to be due to its high levels of chromium, nitrogen and molybdenum. Please click here to find out much more about 2205 DUPLEX.
ABOUT OUR ZERON® 100 ALLOY
This is a highly cost-effective and extremely popular duplex alloy designed to cope extremely well in the harshest and most aggressive of environments. It performs superbly in a variety of applications, thanks to its effective resistance to stress corrosion cracking, and corrosion resistance, under warm seawater conditions, plus superior pitting.
Its impact strength is a particularly notable feature, without any true ductile brittle transition, thus setting it apart from other products. Amongst its many applications are in heat exchangers, power generation, pressure vessels and pulp and paper.
