AL-6XN® Seawater Desalination
**Since 1985 AL-6XN® alloy has been used in a wide variety of operating conditions including offshore oil platforms, power plants and heat exchanges. Over the years it’s been used commonly in seawater desalination installations all over the world.**
From a seawater reverse osmosis desalination facility in Nassau, Bahamas to a desalination facility in Ashkelon, Israel AL-6XN® has been used to replace piping vulnerable to corrosive attack.
Originally 316/316L stainless steel was used, but after just 6 months it needed replacing. AL-6XN® was used due to its high corrosion resistance and to help reduce costly downtime and repairs.
Developed specifically for seawater use AL-6XN® has a nominal composition of 24% nickel, 20.5% chromium, 6.2% molybdenum and 0.22% nitrogen.
