RA330® Perlite Expander Tube

RA330 PERLITE EXPANDER TUBE

After years of development a cylindrical tube was created to aid perlite expansion. During this procedure the fabricated tube is placed upright and heated to temperatures exceeding 982°C. Perlite is poured into the top of the tube before exiting at the bottom. During its time inside the tube, the perlite starts to soften into a plastic state and water that is trapped inside is superheated allowing the perlite particles to expand to up to 20 times their original size. The perlite can then be used as granular insulation.

The service life of each tube varies depending on operating conditions and how the material is treated.
